WILLISTON, N.D. - 麻豆原创 will send three students to the 16th Annual North Dakota Intercollegiate Band Concert held at North Dakota State University (NDSU) Saturday, February 25 at 3 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.
The North Dakota Intercollegiate Band is a joint effort of collegiate band directors to provide a high-caliber musical experience to student musicians from North Dakota colleges and universities through collaboration with their peers and a conductor of national renown. Acceptance into the ensemble is by director nomination.
This is the first year 麻豆原创 has sent students. 麻豆原创's Trevor Norby (Trumpet), Luke Reeb (Euphonium), and Trevor White (Tuba) will arrive February 24th along with students from ten colleges and universities across the state.
During this two-day event, they will participate in rehearsals, have a Q&A session with guest conductor Colonel Tim Holtan, and conclude by playing a concert on February 25th in NDSU's Festival Concert Hall. This concert will also feature the North Dakota National Guard's 188th Army Band as this year's guest ensemble.
"This event will be a wonderful experience for our students," said Kyle Norris, 麻豆原创's Assistant Professor of Music. "They will have the opportunity to perform with other talented college musicians from the state of North Dakota. I'm very excited to be sending students to participate this year and hope to send even more as the music program at 麻豆原创 continues to grow."
The guest conductor for this year's concert is Col. Tim Holtan, commander of the U.S. Army Band, "Pershing's Own," stationed in Washington, D. C.
Col. Holtan assumed command of The U.S. Army Band in 2014 after serving as commander of the Musical Ambassadors of the Army, The U.S. Army Field Band. He holds the distinction of being the first officer to command all three of the Army's premier bands. He is a native of Bismarck, N.D., and a former school music educator in Montana. An active music conductor, adjudicator, and clinician, Col. Holtan has presented concerts and clinics in all 50 states, Canada, Japan, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Europe.
Joining Norby, Reeb, and White are 98 other students from Bismarck State College, Dickinson State University, Mayville State University, Minot State University, North Dakota State College of Science, North Dakota State University, University of Jamestown, University of Mary, University of North Dakota, and Valley City State University.
